About me
Hello
My name is Jenny and I am passionate about helping children to reach their potential.
I am a fully qualified specialist teacher and assessor with a current Assessment and Practicing Certificate (APC). I am also a member of PATOSS – the Professional Association of Teachers of Students with Specific Learning Difficulties. As a SASC approved assessor, I keep my skills up to date with regular professional development training and my reports can be used for Disabled Student Allowance (DSA) applications.
I gained my OCR Level 7 training to teach and assess learners with specific learning difficulties (SpLDs) with the Helen Arkell Dyslexia Centre, for whom I still work as a freelance assessor in addition to my private work.
As a specialist teacher assessor, I have worked with children from KS1 to KS5 at a number of schools in West London in addition to private clients.
I enjoy many aspects of teaching, but particularly relish the creative challenge of making learning multi-sensory, memorable and fun. And of course, it is a joy to watch the positive impact that specialist teaching can make to a child’s confidence and ability – once they believe they can achieve, their excitement is contagious!
The assessment process is equally rewarding as it is often the first step for parents in understanding the root causes of their child’s learning differences. The in-depth report provides personalised recommendations for support both at school and home and with these in place, I truly believe that SpLDs don’t need to hold children back.
